Why Spelling Matters

As of this writing, the big headline at the Post website reads, “Bolton to Replace Card As Bush’s Chief of Staff” [italics added].

The problem?

It’s Joshua Bolten — that’s -e-n — who’s stepping into the role. Most assuredly not John Bolton — spelled -o-n.

Big difference there.

When you’re going to refer to people by their last names only, you’d better make sure to get them right. (And incidentally, in the time it’s taken me to type this, they’ve corrected the error, so good for them.)
